The Mystery of Triangular Houses in Odesa 17.06.16

Distinctive feature and one of the main characteristics of Odessans is their sparkling sense of humor. The cheerful and always jovial Odessans are known to many. If you are visiting Southern Palmyra for the first time and the jubilant Odessans offer to show you a triangular (or as it is often called \"flat\") building, boldly go and inspect this mysterious attraction. The amazing house is an ordinary residential building where completely non‐flat people live. But how this is possible you will not understand at once. The most famous \"flat\" house is located at: Vorontsovsky Lane, 4, however in Odesa this is not the only project of this type. As it turned out, there are quite a few \"flat\" houses in our city. The building on Vorontsovsky Lane is known to many. Sometimes it is also called the \"Witch’s House\" or \"Wall House\". Looking at the facade of the construction, you will see that people live here and the house is no different from others. But if you view it from a certain angle, it becomes obvious that the house is absolutely flat. The secret of the construction is quite simple – the walls of the house are at an angle, creating an interesting visual illusion. A curious detail is that the building became an attraction by accident. The house was built in the 1930s. The reason for the emergence of this unusual construction is considered to be a shortage of funds to continue construction; the best solution was to bring the walls together, forming a triangular building. There is a version that there was not enough land for construction. However, the true reason for the appearance of the mysterious house has not yet been established.
