No matter what your idea of the most unusual place to live, you surely wouldn't guess how one Norwegian family radically changed their life by moving to a new location.
Since 2013, Benjamin and Ingrid Gjertefolger have lived under a geodesic dome on the island of Sandhornøya, 1000 km from Oslo, above the Arctic Circle! The unique structure was built by them with their own hands, with the help of friends and neighbors. Only environmentally friendly materials were used in the construction: clay, straw, wood, granite.

The house is surrounded by a geodesic dome on the outside, which protects the dwelling from squally winds and bad weather. Moreover, this has another advantage – cleaning the house is not difficult, because less dust penetrates it. There is also a place for a garden under the dome, where the amazing family grows greens, vegetables, and fruits. The water used to water the garden is previously used and filtered water.

The house consists of 3 floors, 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a garage, and a terrace on the roof. A separate area is designated for yoga practice. Here reigns a unique atmosphere of tranquility and peace, and you can observe the northern lights straight from the windows!
