There are many different aspects when choosing an apartment, some of which we have already told you about in articles
On which floor is it better to live?,
APARTMENTS — ARE THEY APARTMENTS OR NOT? WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?,
PANORAMIC WINDOWS — ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES.
Besides these nuances there is one more important moment — the side of the world to which the windows and facade walls of the apartment are oriented.
When choosing an apartment with orientation to one or another side of the world, you should proceed from your lifestyle, personal preferences, the floor on which the apartment is located, the surrounding development and the presence of tall trees in the immediate vicinity of the house, whether the apartment is used for year-round living or only in the summer season and the functional purpose of that or another room/space. It is precisely about the connection of these factors with the side of the world that we will talk further.
Lifestyle and personal preferences when choosing the side of the world

If you like to wake up with the first rays, enjoying the bright morning sunlight or fall asleep watching the sunset, then windows facing east or west will suit you best.
With eastern windows you will meet the sunrise earlier than everyone else and this is an ideal choice for those who wake up early, however it should be taken into account that in summer the room will heat up quite quickly.
With western windows it will be light in the second half of the day and this is an ideal option for those who like to sleep longer and who are not pleased by the bright morning sun. And in the evening you will be able to enjoy the view of the sunset from the windows of the western side. Besides this, in summer western rooms are warm but not hot.
By the way, about heat. By right the warmest and even hot side is considered the southern one. This side is especially for those who love warmth and a lot of light, because rooms facing south in any season will be very bright and in many respects this is a plus, for example, if you have houseplants or you prefer to work in bright natural light. In winter this can be a pleasant bonus to have such a bright and at the same time rather warm room, however in summer, when the sun is most active, it can be especially hot and stuffy there, so it is better to immediately get an air conditioner. Also, a large amount of light contributes to the dying off of various pathogenic bacteria. Moreover, an excess of ultraviolet radiation can turn into wallpaper fading and furniture drying out.
A compromise in such a situation can be a room facing southeast or southwest, where there will be enough light and not too hot, accordingly, on the southeast it will be lighter and warmer, while on the southwest there will be a little less light and a little cooler.
The northern side has earned the title of the darkest and coolest, but in everything you can find your advantages! For example, if you like coolness, not bright sun, then this side is especially for you! In winter in northern rooms it can be cool if the walls of the house are not insulated and do not have sufficient thermal resistance. In summer in such a room it will be maximally comfortable even without an air conditioner, because the air will not heat up with the same force as, for example, from the southern or eastern side. However, sun‐loving plants in such a room are better not placed.
Also a very important moment is the direction of the winds and their intensity in winter and summer time.
