Apparently, Odesa will soon become the owner of a 12-story shopping and entertainment center, which will be located on Customs Square - on the site under the Literary Museum and the city hall.
The Odesa city council intends to lease this plot to the company «Трансрегионсервис-Украина», and the relevant issue will be raised, which deputies will consider at the session on February 8.
The company's plans include the creation of the TRC «Портико-Молл», which will include shops, restaurants, cafes, a cinema, a children's entertainment center, billiards, a two-level ground parking, and much more.
The construction of the facility involves the demolition of the building of former port warehouses from 1810 (excluded from the list of monuments in 2008). As for another object – the ruins on Lanzheronovsky Descent, better known as the mosque, it remains unclear whether they will remain.
The developers of the TRC plan to expand Primorskaya Street to 15 m and turn the Devulanovsky Descent into a pedestrian zone. The plot for the construction of a new shopping center is located in a lowland and, even with its scale of 12 floors, it will not exceed the height limit adopted for the historical center of the city.
The project to lease the land to the developer company was conceived back in 2014. At that time, participants in the public hearings on this issue spoke out against construction, and the decision was made to postpone the project until a later time, which will come on February 8 of this year. Tomorrow, deputies will consider this issue at the city council session and make a final decision.
